The widening scope and growing complexity of KF activities over the years make it increasingly challenging to cover all of our projects in meaningful detail in our annual report.

Starting this year, the annual report will concentrate on one of KF’s eight focus areas each year. The 2018 annual report focuses on academic development.

In our support for academic work, KF focuses on finding and clearing bottlenecks in the field of Buddhist studies worldwide. As Anja Hartmann, KF Academic Development Chair, said, “Where can we fill a gap and make the biggest impact with the smallest possible amount of money?”

For now, KF identified three places:
  • supporting Buddhist programs at universities;
  • supporting language studies; and
  • building a bridge between western academia and eastern monastic studies.
