This is the third year that Khyentse Foundation has given an Award for Excellence in Buddhist Studies to a UC Berkeley student. This year’s recipient is Kellie Marie Powell, a senior majoring in religious studies. She is now in her second year of Sanskrit and first year of Tibetan, and has taken five courses in Buddhist studies. She is interested in attaining a graduate degree in Buddhist studies.
“We think she is a winner,” said Prof. Sharf. We agree. We are so happy to recognize the excellent work of this blooming young scholar and to encourage her further studies in Buddhism.
