Peter Gyallay-Pap, exec director, Khmer-Buddhist Educational Assistance Project (KEAP) spent three weeks in Cambodia facilitating the recruitment and selection of three monk scholarship recipients. There were seven applicants for the Khyentse Foundation awards to study for an MA in Buddhist studies in Sri Lanka. He writes: “I worked with six who opted to complete their applications for submission to the selection committee, which brought the candidates together at Wat Mongkulvan for an English proficiency exam followed by individual interviews. Those selected were Ven. Sok Theavy from Kampong Cham province, Ven. Suy Sovann from Kampong Thom province, and Ven. Chamroeun Chhen from Battambang province. They departed for Colombo in the second half of January after receiving an English-for-Buddhist-higher-studies tutorial and orientation.”
