In 2019 most of Khyentse Foundation’s grants and scholarships will have two application windows throughout the year. We ask that you only apply for a scholarship or grant during these specific windows. Read below to help determine which application is right for you.
Buddhist Studies Scholarships and Individual Practice Grants
Application Windows: December 15, 2018 through January 15, 2019 and June 15 through July 15, 2019
Khyentse Foundation Buddhist Studies Scholarships are grants to support individuals who wish to study the Dharma. KF accepts applications from teachers, students, practitioners, scholars, and translators from all traditions, schools, and sects of Buddhism. Khyentse Foundation Individual Practice Grants support individuals who wish to practice Dharma on retreat, at public teachings, or in other practice environments. KF accepts applications from practitioners and retreatants from all traditions, schools, and sects of Buddhism.
Application Windows: January 15 through February 15, 2019 and July 15 through August 15, 2019
The Ashoka Grants committee considers applications from a broad array of organizations and individuals who are actively engaged in projects related to Buddhism. The only applications that are not considered are applications requesting funds for building and construction projects; applications that are incomplete or that do not adequately explain the scope of the project; and applications that have no relevance to Buddhism or Buddhist activity.
Translation Studies Scholarships
Application Window: February 1 through March 1, 2019 only
Khyentse Foundation Translation Studies Scholarships support students in advanced degree programs in translation studies and Buddhist philosophy with the express purpose of training Dharma translators for the future. Who is eligible: Students who are enrolled in a program of translation studies or Buddhist philosophy and are on track to become translators or are currently working as translators. Candidates must already have some translation experience and be enrolled in an advanced degree program (MA, PhD, or MPhil). Student translators who do not fulfill these criteria are welcome to apply to the Ashoka Grants or Buddhist Studies Scholarship program.
In depth information and application forms can be found on the KF Apply page.
PLEASE NOTE: Anyone seeking a grant from KF and anyone who has already received a grant from KF should read this important message from Rinpoche, dated January 2017.
