Nisheeta was born and raised in Mumbai. She received a Bachelor of Mass Media degree with a specialization in journalism at the University of Mumbai. Upon graduation, she was awarded a KF scholarship to study Tibetan language at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies in Dharamsala for two years. Nisheeta met Rinpoche in 2004 at the inauguration of Dzongsar Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö Institute in Chauntra and has been studying with him since 2007. She is currently pursuing her MA at the University of Chicago’s Divinity School.
