In 2016, Khyentse Foundation awarded a grant of $20,000 USD to Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Nepal to support its financial aid program. It is a matching funds program by which Khyentse Foundation matches the contribution from Rangjung Yeshe Institute. This joint scholarship initiative funded ten students who excelled in the program through merit-based initiatives. Three of the students were in the MA Translation, Textual Interpretation, and Philology program, and seven were in the BA program. The fund also enabled a work-study exchange program for students who were not eligible for the merit-based scholarship competition, provided a full scholarship for students of South Asian and Himalayan origin, and covered full tuition for ordained sangha to study in the BA program.
