Khyentse Foundation scholarship recipient Alina Cepeda is preparing to translate into Spanish the texts that will be used in a three-year retreat under the guidance of Loppön Jigme Rinpoche.
Originally from Mexico, Alina has spent the past two years studying Tibetan grammar, Buddhist philosophy, and translation in Nepal and India. Studying at Deer Park Institute, Karmapa International Buddhist Institute, and Rangjung Yeshe Gomde has broadened her knowledge of both Buddhism and the Tibetan language, giving her the foundation she needs to start translating Dharma texts from Tibetan into Spanish for use during the three-year retreat.
Alina aspires to bring genuine Dharma to Mexico and the world. In addition to studying to become a translator, she is raising funds for a three-year retreat center in Mexico. This year she completed the small Gompa, and her wish is to complete eight retreat cabins and the bathrooms next year.
Now married and back in Mexico, Alina reports, “Thanks to Khyentse Foundation, I was able to study colloquial Tibetan and begin translating some Dudjom practices. I am hoping next year to be able to continue my studies in Dharma Tibetan in Nepal. At the moment I’m focusing on Guru Yoga practice and translating Throma practices into Spanish. I am very grateful for all the trust and support the foundation has given me over the past two years; without them, this couldn’t have been possible for me!”
Next summer Alina will take the translator course at Rangjung Yeshe Gomde Califonia, and then return to Deer Park to help with translation projects going on there, giving her more practical experience with translation.
Alina, I’m sure true Dharma will flourish in México, thanks to commited students like you. Thank you!. We are proud of you.
