Who We Are
Khyentse Foundation was established to actualize the vision of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche to preserve and promote the Buddha’s wisdom. Primarily a funding institution, our mostly volunteer foundation is constantly growing and evolving, shaped by the needs and circumstances of the world and those who seek our support. With additional projects funded every year, the efforts and contributions of our supporters and staff allow Khyentse Foundation to reach hundreds of thousands of people who are interested in the teachings of the Buddha. We believe that everyone, whether Buddhist or not, has something to gain from the Buddha’s insight.
Buddha’s wisdom is for everyone.
Practicing is not necessarily just chanting or sitting straight. Practicing can be practicing concern for the survival of the dharma and therefore working for the dharma.
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
"Khyentse Foundation’s aspiration is to help not just one or two lamas or lineages or one or two monasteries. Our aspiration is to help anything to do with Buddha Shakyamuni. "
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche is Khyentse Foundation’s founder, chair, and anchor, who serves as the inspiration and glue for the foundation. Fearless, wise, and endearing, Rinpoche steers the foundation with assurance and a sense of adventure.
Born in Bhutan in 1961 to a family of renowned Buddhist masters, Rinpoche was recognized as an incarnation of the founder of the Rimé (nonsectarian) lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. After nearly two decades of traditional monastic training in Buddhist philosophy and ritual, Rinpoche began teaching around the world. In addition to being a respected Buddhist teacher to hundreds of thousands of students in about 40 countries across five continents, Rinpoche is also an acclaimed author and filmmaker.
