Auspicious Dates Calendar 2026

“The main thing is remembering her—anytime, anywhere, however short, even if just a few moments—remembering Tara and considering it a proper practice and being happy with that.”
— Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
To celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse, Khyentse Foundation is pleased to present our eighth annual calendar to inspire you in your practice throughout the year. As well as the expressive image of KF’s guardian deity Arya Tara, the calendar features the auspicious dates of the Khyentse lineage masters and dates related to the Buddha Shakyamuni.
The year 2026 also marks Khyentse Foundation’s silver jubilee. We celebrate 25 years as a modern patron of Buddhism, doing our best to help realize Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche’s vision of finding new ways to spread the dharma. We also take this opportunity to rejoice in the offerings of time, donations, or simply auspicious wishes that have sustained KF over the years.
The Tara image featured on this year’s calendar was painted by contemporary Bhutanese artist Yeshey Tsogyal and was especially selected to commemorate KF’s anniversary. Yeshey’s artistic practice generally reinterprets spiritual and natural forms, drawing from Buddhist visual traditions while resisting literal narrative. The Tara painting represents a departure from her usual style.
“I enjoyed painting the Tara because the technique (the structure) is very different from how I usually paint,” says Yeshey. “It’s a painting of a statue, so it was very much like sculpting rather than painting. I don’t know how people will receive this painting, but I’ve started to strongly believe in collective merit. With this image, I hope that whoever encounters it may generate a meritorious field within themselves, and from that space, dedicate something positive—however small—to others.”
This year’s calendar is offered in 28 languages (29 versions). Many thanks to Yeshey Tsogyal and all the translators and volunteers for their efforts in preparing the calendar!
